Too much technical content is shaped by products, marketing, or commercial incentives. Valuable tools and technologies deserve thoughtful evaluation, but research should never begin with a product. It should begin with a question.
Aston Cyber exists to ask difficult questions, pursue evidence wherever it leads, and publish honest conclusions that advance the field.
Our purpose is not to sell software. Our purpose is not to generate fear. Our purpose is to produce knowledge that others can trust.

Our conclusions are not shaped by vendor commissions, resale incentives, paid referral arrangements, partnerships, or other commercial interests.
Credibility is earned through independence.
Intellectual honesty
We follow evidence wherever it leads.
When we are uncertain, we say so. When we are wrong, we correct ourselves. When limitations exist, we document them openly.
Confidence should never exceed evidence.
Technical excellence
We value rigor over speed.

Responsible disclosure
Knowledge should be shared whenever responsibly possible.
When research uncovers vulnerabilities or weaknesses, affected organizations deserve the opportunity to understand and remediate those issues before public disclosure.

IV. How we work
We ask questions before proposing solutions. We investigate before concluding. We publish methods alongside findings whenever possible. We distinguish evidence from opinion.
We avoid unnecessary hype, sensationalism, and fear-based messaging. We evaluate technologies, vendors, and methodologies based on technical merit rather than popularity or marketing.
Our goal is not to win arguments. Our goal is to improve understanding.

The cybersecurity community depends upon trust. Trust cannot be purchased. It cannot be marketed into existence. It cannot be demanded.
